Desert creature

Quick paint of a sketch I did ages ago.

Feel free to suggest a name, I haven't thought of one yet. These creatures are dwellers of the limesand desert, very efficient runners due to the need to travel far each day to find plant life. For this reason they are often used as steeds for Chanay messengers. They are strict herbivores, with grasping digits on their long forelimbs for pulling down vines and branches to reach the leaves. Communication is vitally important due to their sparse ranging nature - though they appear to be solitary to the occasional onlooker, their social networks are extensive and they often congregate in large groups during the wet season. The colour of the coat is most intense in the dominant animals. They also use their chin pouches to emit long ranging calls at dusk when the sound travels the furthest. The appendages hanging from the cheeks are covered in millions of tiny hairs and are able to pick up vibrations from the calls of other individuals.
